Cleared for Take-off

Wow, this should be my non-jogging, jogging blog.  I have pretty much been out of commission for three weeks so there has not been a lot to write about.

Today I went to an orthopedist/sports doctor.  My Achilles Tendinitis is healing up better than I expected.  Hooray!  I wish he hadn't insisted on taking x-rays.  I can't wait to get the bill for those.

I am only to add ten percent a week to my mileage and I am to avoid hills.  Did I mention I live in the foothills?  The hill part might pose a bit of a challenge.

Anyway, I'm still sore, but improving.  I hope the bump on the back of my right heel goes away.  I will be ready for Hood to Coast in August.  Knock on wood.  And I really, really wish I had the money for some compression socks.

That is all.

  1. YAY! You can run!

I'm happy things are better than expected.

I've been thinking about compression socks too.

Are the medical ones cheaper? May be you can find them on sale some place. I hope!

  2. I did find the socks on sale but not sure how long the code will last and I can't afford them until the 15th. Anyway if you go to procompressions website and order a pair, and use the code BLG13, they are forty percent off. I hope it's still valid on the fifteenth.

  4. Hey Carolyn,
I'm stopping by because I nominated Leali for a Very Inspiring Blogger Award and she passed it on to you. I ran a half marathon last year and right before the race I injured my foot. I later came to find out that I had a stress fracture undoubtedly caused by running a half marathon on an already injured foot. I have run significant distance since that injury (about 5 months), but am trying to work my way up there. Take care of your body!

    1. Oh my gosh Brandy, you are like super woman. I can't imagine running a half with an injured foot. I am glad you are healing up. I am healing slowly also, but so happy to be running again.
